Canada’s Best Sommelier 2017

The dust has settled on the 2017 Best Sommelier of Canada competition held this past week in Vancouver. Quebec’s Carl Villeneuve-Lepage from Restaurant Toqué! topped a talented field of nine competitors from across the country.
For details, see the attached press releases.

Manitoba’s champion Domer Rafael, in his first exposure to playing in the big leagues, gained invaluable personal experience and is excited to come home with the knowledge of the commitment and work needed to shine on the national stage. He plans to share his experience with our fledgling chapter. Domer also received a prize from Mission Hill Winery of a trip with his fellow competitors to visit the winery in the Okanagan for intensive workshops with the viticultural and winemaking teams.
